This morning as I sat down to write, I found it significantly harder than usual to come up with something I felt was worth sharing.

Despite keeping a journal of ideas, nothing really stood out to me. I thought about writing about exponential living, being consistent, productivity tips, being confident in who you are, or how I made friends with my mentors, but nothing grabbed my attention.

This is probably because I went to sleep later than usual, which is one of my core fundamentals.

But it would be wrong of me to sit here and come up with excuses, especially since I read a bedtime story to my son last night all about not making excuses (thank you, Wayne Dyer).

So what did I decide to do given this lack of inspiration?

I decided to show up anyway.

See, once we’ve made a commitment, and I mean a real commitment, it really doesn’t matter whether we feel like doing something or not.

Our only job is to show up anyway.

By now, most people’s new year’s resolutions would have been sadly forgotten, no longer smothered in that “I’m going to do this” hype.

How much more progress would you make towards your goals if instead, you just decided to show up anyway?

I went for coffee (which for me means water) with one of my listeners/readers yesterday, and I was sharing my excitement about my daily writing habit. What excites me about it is that I have no idea what opportunities are going to emerge as a result of following through on my commitment, but I know that they are going to come.

But none of those opportunities would materialize if I stopped showing up.

This is what it means to live an exponential life. We make what seems like gradual, slow progress when suddenly one thing falls into place and we take off, unable to see the spot we were just moments before.

So show up anyway.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t feel like it.

It doesn’t matter if it’s not perfect.

It doesn’t matter if your conditions aren’t favorable.

As Cooper would now tell you, those are just excuses.

Focus on what you can control.

Show up anyway.
