Yesterday I spoke about the fact that we don’t need to suffer before allowing ourselves to experience joy and how I’ve been using Netflix as a tool to do so.
I also mentioned Spotify, which I want to talk a little more about today.
While there is a free version, I decided to upgrade in order to remove ads and keep my attention where I want it; well worth paying for!
Perhaps the most impressive things about Spotify is the algorithm, which serves up suggested songs based on whatever else I’ve been listening to.
Recently, after creating a playlist, a song was suggested to me which caught my eye.
It was called Reborn, so naturally I pressed play.
And while it wasn’t the kind of song I’d play on repeat for an entire day (yes, I do that), I was immediately drawn to some of the lyrics.
“I’m so reborn, I’m moving forward, keep moving forward, keep moving forward. Ain’t no stress on me, Lord, I’m moving forward, keep moving forward, keep moving forward.”
Being a firm believer that lessons and inspiration are literally everywhere if we choose to be open to them, it was not lost on me that the number 1 most important component of reinventing yourself (or in this case, being “reborn”) was being sent as a reminder: take action a.k.a. keep moving forward.
Anyway, in preparation for writing this post, I listened to the song again, focusing a little deeper on the rest of the lyrics, and also picked up these lines:
“At times wonder my purpose, easy to feel worthless, but peace is something that starts with me,” and
“Which way do I go? Keep moving forward.”
If those aren’t awesome reminders, I don’t know what is!
If we want to make a big change in our lives, we need to take action. As simple as that. You can dream and visualize and read affirmations as much as you want, but you need to get out there and act. Even if we’re not sure what our next steps are, we need to keep moving forward.
And, with all the ups and downs that lie ahead, remember that peace is something that starts with you 🙂
Let’s see what the algorithm dishes up next.
